Reaching Children Initiative is a highly interactive CME activity that aims to engage clinicians through various teaching strategies. The four psychosocial conditions covered during the sessions—post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), bereavement, depression, and anxiety/ADHD problems—will be presented through case-based discussions. Role play will be used to impart skills particularly with regard to cognitive behavioral therapies. Another unique feature of the sessions is a networking lunch designed to bring together pediatricians and local area mental health professionals. This opportunity to interface aims to facilitate referral, improve care coordination and foster continued inter-professional collaboration.

The cases used to illustrate the psychosocial conditions were derived from the award-winning CD-ROM Feelings Need Check-Ups Too. Attendees will be introduced to the CD-ROM and receive a copy to take home and view at their own convenience to earn up to 4 category 1 CME credits as designated by the American Academy of Pediatrics. In addition, physicians will receive a toolkit that includes fact sheets, screening tools, and other relevant materials.
