The Division is involved in a national project detailing the natural history of NF1 in a collaborative study funded by the U.S. Army medical branch. It is a data-based study to follow the natural history of plexiform neurofibromata and complications of patients diagnosed with NF1.

Work continues to evaluate a role for antineuronal antibodies in children with Sydenham's chorea. This study tests for serum antibodies present during active chorea, which can be directed against specific neural tissue of basal ganglia origin.
