Policies and Procedures: Qualifications
Appointment
as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Mount Sinai School of Medicine is extended only
to individuals with doctoral degrees who seek to enhance their research experience,
under the mentorship of a faculty member. This is a "trainee" position, outside
both the non-bargaining unit and the faculty categories.
It is the responsibility of the Fellow to provide transcripts, or a photocopy of the degree, that certify that their advanced degree has been received, and the responsibility of the mentor to be sure that the documentation is satisfactory. In the event that an advanced degree has not yet been awarded, a letter from the granting institution certifying that all requirements for the degree have been fulfilled can be substituted. A copy of these documents will be maintained with a copy of the letter of appointment in the postdoc’s file in the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs. An individual cannot be hired (or appointed) as a Postdoctoral Fellow if this documentation has not been presented to the postdoctoral office.
All policies are subject to change by Mount Sinai School of Medicine from
time to time.
