Institutional Review Board (IRB)Periods of ApprovalMost unfunded or industry sponsored research projects are given a full year from the date of IRB approval in order to conduct a project. There may be some exceptions to this rule so researchers should always pay attention to their approval documents which explain the approval period that a project has been given. For research sponsored by foundations or government agencies (including the NIH), the ending date of an IRB approval period will be synchronized with the sponsor's budget end date. Please review your IRB approval letters for information on your approval period and if you have further questions, please contact the IRB for assistance. |
