Gabriele Di Luozzo, MD
- SENIOR FACULTY | Cardiovascular Surgery
Gabriele Di Luozzo, MD, joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery after completing senior clinical fellowship at Mount Sinai. During the 2006 academic year, Dr. Di Luozzo was a Fellow under the tutelage of Dr. Randall Griepp on the Aortic Surgery Service. He arrives to Mount Sinai after his formal cardiothoracic surgery training at the University of Miami which was focused on warm beating heart surgery and "off-pump” cardiac surgery. After completing his Aortic Surgery fellowship, he worked alongside Dr. Griepp until 2011 taking care of patients with various aortic conditions including aortic dissections, aneurysms and connective tissue disorders. During this time has been promoted to Associate Director of the Aortic Program including the Aortic Aneurysm Surveillance Program. His clinical practice remains focused on valvular heart disease, thoracic and thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysms and aortic dissections. In addition to his clinical responsibilities, he directs a NIH-funded large animal laboratory researching on methods to prevent spinal cord and brain injury after aortic aneurysm repairs.
