Dr. Patel specializes in the treatment of infections in immune-compromised patients like those who anticipate or should undergo solid organ or hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. She is also the medical director of the Mount Sinai Antimicrobial stewardship program where there is an emphasis placed on education of medical staff on the appropriate use of antimicrobials, cost-effectiveness and evidence-based management of infections.
Dr. Patel's research interests include healthcare-associated infections, multi-drug resistant bacterial infections and infections in the solid organ transplantation.
