Biography

    Willem J. M. Mulder, Ph.D., obtained a M.Sc. in Chemistry at the Utrecht University (the Netherlands). In 2002 he started his Ph.D. project at Department of Biomedical Engineering of the Eindhoven University of Technology (the Netherlands) and obtained his Ph.D. in 2006. Thereafter, he was appointed Assistant Professor of Radiology at the Translational and Molecular Imaging Institute, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York. Within this institute he heads the Nanomedicine Laboratory, which focuses on the development of novel multifunctional lipid-based nanoparticles for biomedical applications, including diagnostics and therapeutics. Since 2008 he also holds a secondary appointment as Assistant Professorship of Gene and Cell Medicine.

Physicians and scientists on the faculty of Mount Sinai School of Medicine often interact with pharmaceutical, device and biotechnology companies to improve patient care, develop new therapies and achieve scientific breakthroughs.
