The Mount Sinai School of Medicine Consortium for Graduate Medical Education, consisting of 13 institutions located in New York and New Jersey, sponsors more than 140 residency programs in virtually every specialty of medicine, enrolling in the aggregate more than 2,000 house staff. Consortium educational activities provided to all house staff, regardless of home institution or specialty.

Autism Clinical Research Fellowship

A research fellowship position is available for competitive applicants at the Seaver and New York Autism Center of Excellence at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, under the direction of Eric Hollander, M.D. The Seaver Center is a multi-disciplinary, NIH funded research center with research programs in genetics (molecular genetic and family studies), neuroimaging (MRI, fMRI, MRS, PET), neuropsychopharmacology and psychosocial treatments for individuals with autism spectrum disorders. Applicants must have completed their residency in child or adult psychiatry, child neurology or developmental pediatrics and be licensed and board eligible. The goals of the training include:

  • Training in gold standard evaluation/assessment of autism spectrum disorders
  • Training in clinical trial design and psychopharmacology and autism

Collaborations are available with associated researchers in neuroimaging and neurobehavioral genetics. Salaries are competitive with excellent benefits. Positions are currently available.

Autism Clinical Research Coordinator

The Department of Psychiatry at Mount Sinai School of Medicine is looking to fill a full-time research position at the Seaver and New York Autism Center of Excellence, run by Dr. Eric Hollander, world-renowned researcher in the field of autism. We are looking for a highly responsible, organized individual who is interested in eventually continuing on to a medical, psychology, or professional clinical research career. Ideal start date for interested candidates would be July 2008.

Among the areas for which this individual would be responsible are: phone calls with patients/families/clinicians seeking our services, patient scheduling; data entry/collection/interpretation; study start-up and maintenance; Institutional Review Board submissions; technical/grant writing; and assistance with presentations/publications.

Interested applicants should:

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree
  • Be highly familiar and comfortable with widely available computer programs
  • Have a strong background in psychology, biological sciences, study methodology and statistics
  • Have experience working with developmentally disabled children and adults
  • Have a strong interest in research
  • Be interested in learning about etiology and treatment of psychiatric disorders
  • Be able and willing to work with psychiatric patients in a professional and compassionate manner
