Geriatric Psychiatry Clinic

The Clinic is a multidisciplinary group of health care providers dedicated to the comprehensive mental health treatment of older adults. The Clinic offers evaluation and management of persons over the age of 60 and their caregivers. Expert physicians, nurse practitioners, and social workers are available for the evaluation of each patient. On-site consultations may be provided by neurologists and neuropsychologists. All of the health care providers in this clinic are on the staff of The Mount Sinai Medical Center. Services are available in English and Spanish. The Geriatric Psychiatry Clinic specializes in: memory fisorders, behavioral disturbances that result from memory disorders, depression, chronic mental illness, individual and family counseling, group therapy for caregiver issues and bereavement issues.

    Specialized multidisciplinary evaluation and treatment for individuals over 65. Explicit areas of expertise include mood disorders, memory and cognitive impairment, anxiety disorders, and behavioral disturbances. Contact information: (212)241-9382 Inpatient: 38 beds, ALOS is 20 days for those over 65 or with geriatric problems requiring intensive evaluation and treatment initiation in a locked, well-staffed setting.
