Procedure and FAQ
For PGY-I Admission
- Completed ERAS application package
For PGY-II and above
- Current CV
- Final transcript (with seal) which includes information on required
clinical clerkships
- Notarized copy of medical school diploma
- Three original letters of reference
- Original Deans Letter (if applicable)
- Certificate of completion or original letter from program director
verifying start and end dates of training
- Original prior employment and training letters for each program
(must be current, i.e., within the last six months)
For PGY-III and above
- Same as for PGY-II, plus:
- Copy of New York State License Registration or Limited Permit (as
applicable)
Frequently Asked Questions by Applicants from International Medical
Schools
- Do you accept residents outside the Match?
Not typically, although at times we have done so. We do not actively seek applicants outside the match; therefore, we highly recommend that you apply to our program through ERAS.
- Are International Medical Graduates accepted?
Yes, we do accept IMG applications through ERAS. However, acceptance into our program for both International and American graduates is highly competitive.
- Which visas do you accept?
J1 and H1.
- Are there cutoff scores for the program?
No, we do not have strict cutoff scores; we prefer to evaluate the applicant
more thoroughly. However, we do require passing grades on board exams prior
to matriculation.
- Is there an age cutoff?
No.
- Do you require previous psychiatric experience, either within our outside the United States?
No, we do not require such experience. But as we have noted above, our program is extremely competitive.
