Rodney was born in New York City and grew up in New Jersey. He attended college and one year of graduate school in English at Brown University and then went to UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson for medical school. Rodney has been very active in the area of international health. He spent six weeks investigating the use of a therapeutic play milieu in post-tsunami Sri Lanka, and also worked in a community pediatrics clinic in Honduras. He is an avid surfer, scuba diver, and snowboarder and has traveled all around the world including Thailand, Argentina, Costa Rica, Brazil, Philippines, Belize, and throughout Europe. Rodney also enjoys running and can frequently be seen jogging around the Jackie Onasis Reservoir in Central Park. He will be going to NYU for a forensics fellowship to pursue his interest in attachment theory and custody issues.

Why triple board? After almost 5 years in the program I've come to see the value in learning how to speak the vastly different languages of psychiatry and pediatrics and the importance of translating between disciplines.

Best experience in residency:There have been so many amazing experiences, but the best experience overall was just getting to know my colleagues.

Advice for interviewees: Figure out why you want to do this because it's a challenging five years but completely worth the effort.
