Andrew Pearson

Andrew grew up in Haddam, Connecticut where he spent much of his childhood sneaking on to the property of the actress who played the wicked witch of the west to go fishing. It turns out she was actually a nice lady. He attended college at Dartmouth and medical school at Temple University. Prior to becoming a doctor, Andrew had many different careers. He worked as a poetry teacher, a substance abuse counselor, a nanny, a furniture maker, a bookstore clerk, and a maintenance man at a funeral home. With so many interests and skills it's no wonder Andrew chose triple board!
Why triple board: "I want to work with runaway teenagers. This population often has psychiatric difficulties that may be in part responsible for their situation on the streets. Yet these patients, for multiple reasons, hate meeting with psychiatrists. Triple Board training will allow me to treat somatic ailments within this population, such as pneumonia and cellulitis, with an eye toward addressing deeper, underlying issues."
Advice for interviewees: "Despite wearing a suit, try to be yourself. Make sure interviewers know what matters to you in a program."
