Brief Recovery Treatment
Brief Recovery Treatment
is a program created by Edna Foa, Ph.D., who is an international
expert in the psychological treatment of trauma, particularly
addressing the needs of World Trade Center Attack survivors.
This is a program of approximately five 2-hour visits that combines
education and cognitive and behavioral psychotherapy approaches.
Staff members administering this treatment have received direct
training from Dr. Foa. This program is offered on either a
fee for service basis, or without cost to the participant
as part of a treatment research study supported by the National
Institutes of Health. An additional 10 weeks of behavioral
treatment is available to persons requiring further treatment
following the Brief Recovery program.
In cases involving death of family or friends, bereavement
therapy can help reduce overwhelming sadness and guilt, aiding
the survivor to return to his/her normal life.
