Traumatic Stress Studies Division
Overview
The
Mount Sinai Traumatic Stress Studies Division provides comprehensive evaluation
and treatment for trauma survivors and their families by experienced
professionals.
Our clinical services provide a safe and confidential setting in which trauma survivors and their families can address the impact of traumatic events.
We begin with a comprehensive evaluation by an experienced trauma specialist who collects information about the traumatic event and the trauma survivor’s accompanying emotional and behavioral reaction.
The evaluation results are then shared with the individual. If treatment is indicated, we design a treatment program with the survivor tailored to his/her particular needs. We use proven and effective treatments and also provide education sessions. Among our services are individual and group therapy, medication treatment, social services, and other supportive services.
Although nothing can undo the experience of a trauma survivor, effective treatments that lead to recovery and return to normal function are available.
