Overview

Services and Programs provided by MSRC include:

  • Interdisciplinary team of dedicated rehabilitation professionals including primary nursing. Demonstrated expertise in all aspects of rehabilitation care for all types of disability under the direction of Kristjan T. Ragnarsson, M.D., Professor and Chairman, Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, The Mount Sinai Medical Center

     

  • Direct access to all of The Mount Sinai Medical Center's diagnostic and medical/surgical services. This permits admission of patients with unresolved clinical needs to MSRC and prompt intervention for acute needs should they develop

     

  • State-of-the-art inpatient rehabilitation facility with all therapy areas located on the same floor as the nursing units

     

  • Comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation therapy (six days per week) that emphasizes individual sessions as well as group therapy

     

  • Specialized programs for persons with all levels of spinal cord injury, including those that are ventilator dependent

     

  • Specialized programs for persons with all levels of brain injury, including those who are minimally responsive

     

  • Didactic educational classes for patients and their families/significant others

     

  • Peer support and mentoring program for individuals with SCI and/or BI

     

  • Pet-assisted therapy

     

  • Five days-per-week outpatient SCI program: Do It!

     

  • Five days-per-week outpatient BI program: Phase II

     

  • Wheelchair and seating system evaluations

     

  • Six days-per-week outpatient program for patients with neuromuscular, orthopaedic conditions

     

  • Outpatient Stroke Club

     

  • Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) with ergometry and the Freehand System

     

  • Male Rehabilitation Reproductive Program

     

  • Opportunities to participate in a wide variety of clinical research studies related to all programs
