he Mount Sinai Outpatient Rehabilitative Services staff consists of a caring group of health care professionals that have experience treating a wide variety of diagnoses. Regardless of diagnosis, the clinical staff focuses on individualized care that includes a full range of modalities, exercise, and manual therapies. The comprehensive team approach practiced enables the patient to receive the best care available. Specially trained clinicians are on staff to treat a wide variety of musculoskeletal and neurological disorders.

The Mount Sinai Rehabilitative Center Outpatient Neuromuscular Program utilizes an interdisciplinary approach to treat a wide variety of patients affected by various neuromuscular disorders that include traumatic and non-traumatic spinal cord injury. Physiatrists, physical and occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and neuropsychologists are all part of the comprehensive team whose goal is to maximize the functional capabilities of the patient. Upon receiving a physician's referral, patients are provided with the highest level of care that includes:

• A comprehensive evaluation to determine the best course of treatment pertaining to the patient's diagnosis.
• Open and regular communication with the referring physician.
• Access to state-of-the art rehabilitative equipment to assist with recovery.
• Setting functional goals made by the patient and his/her therapist to better achieve the long-term desired results.
• Integration of manual therapy and neuromuscular reeducation techniques to facilitate recovery towards normal joint motion and maximize neurological and muscle function.
• Monthly reevaluations to insure the highest quality of care.

Continuity of care from the inpatient SCI unit to the outpatient service is emphasized for those who complete inpatient rehabilitation at Mount Sinai. The SCI physicians and many other specialists work on both the inpatient and outpatient units.
