• Rodent phenotyping: models for obesity and T2DM, methods: clamps, proteomics, metabolomics, lipidomics.
• CRC: primarily dealing with obesity / diabetes, but also other insulin-resistant states (liver disease, kidney disease, HIV).
• Outreach to neighboring areas: As is shown in New York City's Department of Health and Mental Hygiene report on Diabetes in New York City: Public Health Burden and Disparities [PDF], Mount Sinai is situated in an area that has a particularly high prevalence of diabetes and obesity. We see it as a responsibility and a privilege to help our neighbors by educating them on the risks and bringing them excellence in research and clinical medicine.
