Prerequisites

  1. Obtain MTA permission from National Stem Cell Bank (NSCB) by following these steps:
    1. Filling out the NSCB online request form and paying $500/cell line.
    2. Filling out MTA forms (See MTA) for the cell line of interest.
    3. The completed MTA forms need to be given to the Carmen Correa at the Office of Industrial Liasons (OIL) located at:

    4. The OIL will sign the forms on behalf of MSSM and send them to NSCB for further processing
    5. WiCell will review the request, approve it, process credit card payment and ship cells in a liquid nitrogen container.
    6. Return liquid nitrogen shipper to WiCell in 2 weeks (or be charged an additional $1600).
  2. Complete the ESCRO Authorization Word Document form, attach NIH-style biosketch and MTA forms and hand them to the Program for the Protection of Human Subjects (PPHS) Office located on the 4th Floor of the East Building, Rm L4-78. Phone number: 212-659-8980.
  3. Buy irradiated mouse embryonic fibroblasts (MEFs) from Taconic or buy p0 MEFs from the hESC SRF. Alternatively p0 cells can also be generated using the proper protocol pdf.
