Information services and systems at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine are provided by the Gustave L. and Janet W. Levy Library and its divisions: the library, academic computing, web development, computer-based education development and the archives. The mission of the library is to support the educational, research and patient care activities of the faculty, students and staff. The library implements its mission by providing access to biomedical information resources in paper, digital and electronic formats, and by serving as a resource on communications, web and computing issues for the school.

The digital library and various library services are available and described on the web; the physical library is located in the Annenberg Building with the main entrance on the 11th floor. The library houses a substantial collection of books, journals, audiovisuals and computer programs. There are 200 study seats and over 75 computers available for searching library materials, Internet resources, computer-based educational programs, and using applications software for word processing, spreadsheets, statistics and other uses.

Many educational programs are offered and special programs can be designed upon request. Library users are encouraged to register for services at the circulation desk; registration is required to borrow materials and use the Media Resource Center, located on the 10th floor. The ID is also necessary to purchase software at discounted prices.

The library’s web page contains a wealth of information and is updated when new resources and services become available. Ideas and suggestions are always welcome and should be addressed to Lynn.Morgan@mssm.edu.
