Tumor Cytogenetics Laboratory
Conventional cytogenetics and different FISH (Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization) methods are complementary techniques used to investigate the genome rearrangements of malignant cells. Conventional cytogenetics is the comprehensive study of all chromosomes. FISH study is a more sensitive technology that allows detection of the number, size, and location of DNA and RNA segments within individual cells either in tissue sections or in whole cell populations. The Tumor Cytogenetics Laboratory offers clinical cytogenetic and FISH tests for:
The research aspect of the laboratory includes delienation of genetic events involved in multistep pathogenesis of myeloid disorders. Click here for a slideshow representing the Laboratory's work.
