Mission Statement

The mission of the Mount Sinai Sexual Assault and Violence Intervention Program at (SAVI) is to provide free and confidential counseling, advocacy, support and referral services to past and present survivors of rape, sexual assault, incest, and domestic violence, and to their families and friends.

SAVI conducts an annual training for Volunteer Advocates who see hundreds of survivors at the nine hospitals served by the program. More than 200 sensitive and caring SAVI Advocates are available to support survivors in emergency rooms during medical treatment and evidence collection. This immediate crisis intervention is critical to eventual recovery.

SAVI conducts educational workshops and training programs on sexual assault prevention and response for a range of professional and community groups, including police, students, medical providers, and others.

SAVI promotes improved emergency room protocols that follow state and local regulations and encourage the best quality of care for survivors.

SAVI serves the culturally and economically diverse neighborhoods of New York City with offices in Manhattan and Queens.

SAVI is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) program supported by grants, individual donations, and corporate contributions.

All services are confidential, free of charge, and available without regard to gender, race, age, economic status, religion, or ethnicity.
