Career Development: Professionalism

To comply with a mandate from the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), our curriculum committees developed a mechanism for documenting professionalism. Critical Incident Reports, both positive and negative, document. Document a serious concern about a student's professional behavior a display of professionalism noteworthy of mention. These forms are available to faculty, via Web ED — only course and clerkship directors can submit these forms to the Student Affairs office for a student's file. A series of negative incidents, or an egregious breach in professional behavior can require that the student come before the Promotions Committee.

Critical Incident Reports do not document everyday occurrences. If a form is being submitted about you, the course or clerkship director will review the form with you. YOU SHOULD NOT SOLICIT these forms.
