Advising and Career Development: By ClassResources for Students
First-Year StudentsThe focus of the first-year is on acclimating to medical school and developing effective study habits and strategies. During the year, students will have the opportunity to become involved in extracurricular activities, community service, research, education, global health, and clinical experiences. Students will meet individually with the Director of Student Affairs to talk about summer plans, and begin the career planning process. Second-Year StudentsThe focus of the second-year is continuing to build the knowledge base to be successful as a clinical level student while continuing extracurricular activities, community service, research, education, global health, and clinical experiences. Finally, we work together to plan for Step I and Year 3. Third-Year StudentsThe focus of the third-year is acclimation to the clinical milieu and patient care setting, continued career exploration, and continued professional development.
Fourth-Year StudentsFourth-year students will focus on designing their year in line with their career interests and may pursue away electives, international electives, and other electives to round out their education. Residency planning, application and interviewing is done in conjunction with departmental advisors and the Office of Academic and Student Affairs. * PPS files are PowerPoint Presentations and require Microsoft PowerPoint.
