Disability Awareness and Community Outreach

As physicians in training, we will encounter a wide range of patients, including many who are affected by cognitive, motor, communicative, and developmental disabilities. In order to treat all people with compassion and respect, it is important for us to learn about disabilities and how they affect people's lives. Additionally, we wish to show support for community organizations that help disabled people achieve their goals. The Disability Awareness and Community Outreach group seeks to educate students about topics related to disabilities by bringing in speakers and offering workshops. We also provide students with opportunities to become involved in community-based events and programs related to disability awareness, fundraising, and interaction.
