Hands on Science

Hands on Science is a student organization that taps into the basic science skills of medical students to benefit sick children within the Hospital. Student volunteers produce a weekly interactive science show broadcast over the Hospital's closed-circuit network. Pediatric patients participate directly and over the phone during each class/session, and each show features a hands-on experiment designed to educate and inspire the patients. Additionally, volunteers circulate around the wards to assist ill patients in completing the experiment and participating over the phone. Volunteers interact with pediatric patients as teachers, tutors, and mentors, supplementing their education to compensate for time missed in school, and helping them to stay positive during their illnesses.
