Student Multidisciplinary Laboratories
ach first- and second-year medical student has
a work-study desk in a multidisciplinary lab with an armchair, a
bookcase, a storage compartment and two drawers. Each pair of
students shares a stand-up bench.
The work-study desk can be used for microscopic
studies (Histology, Pathology, Brain and Behavior) or as personal
study areas. The labs are open to students 24 hours a day, seven
days a week.
The large open area in the center of the
laboratory has a variety of uses, which include: demonstrations,
lectures, group conferences, demonstration microscopes, and extra
supplies of equipment (on dispensing carts) or projection of any
form of photographic material, etc.
Closed-circuit color television is used to
supplement and enrich the usual presentations to the students.
Programs can originate in lab, auditorium, or control room.
Several departments use closed-circuit television routinely, and
videotapes have been made or are being made for several others.
These are played back to the class at the appropriate time or as
required by the curriculum.
Students receive additional information
regarding student laboratory equipment and laboratory operation
at the beginning of the school year.
