Surgical Clerkship

Evaluations: Shelf Exam

Given on the last day of the clerkship, the Shelf Exam is provided by the National Board of Medical Examiners. This exam tests students' surgical and general medical knowledge, based on their independent reading during the clerkship. Students must score above the 5th percentile to Pass the course, above the 40th percentile to achieve a High Pass, and above the 70th percentile to achieve Honors. This exam contributes 5% to student's overall grades.
