Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

The Division of Plastic Surgery at The Mount Sinai Medical Center is part of the General Surgery Department. We offer full clinical services in all subspecialty areas within plastic and reconstructive surgery including several services where plastic surgery is part of a multidiscipline team. We offer a residency training program and accept candidates from the PGY-1 match in a six-year combined General Surgery/Plastic Surgery program.

The Plastic Surgery group consists of a strong team that provides all elements of Plastic and Reconstructive surgery. In addition they provide the reconstructive element of Oncologic Surgery, Aesthetic Surgery, and specialized reconstructions including microvascular surgery in complex cases. Lester Silver, M.D.

Chief of the Division and Director of the Resident Training Program. Professor of Surgery, Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Trained in all areas of plastic surgery with special interests in pediatric plastic surgery, hand surgery, and reconstructive plastic surgery problems. Director of the Cleft Lip and Palate/Craniofacial Center.

Active in international plastic surgery activities under the auspices of the Educational Foundation of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, Inc.

Jin Chun, M.D.

Associate Professor of Surgery, Division of Plastic Surgery, Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

A board certified plastic surgeon. He is a member of The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) as well as the American Association of Hand Surgeons. His practice includes cosmetic body contouring surgery, reconstructive breast surgery including TRAM, facial cosmetic and reconstructive surgery and a wide range of post-oncological reconstructions.

Jess Ting, M.D.

Assistant Professor of Surgery, Division of Plastic Surgery, Mount Sinai School
of Medicine

Dr. Ting received undergraduate and graduate degrees from the Juilliard School of Music. He attended medical school at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, and graduated first in his class. He received his General Surgery Training at the Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. He then completed his Plastic Surgery Training at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and a fellowship in Hand Surgery and Microsurgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.

Dr. Ting performs research in the areas of peripheral nerve regeneration and facial nerve reanimation. His clinical interests are plastic surgery and hand surgery. He has special competency in microsurgical reconstruction following trauma or cancer surgery, and in surgery of the hand and upper extremity.
