As a result of these advancements, patients have benefited with an improved quality of life and optimistic outlook towards the future. Vascular conditions that were once deemed inoperable or untreatable are now being treated successfully allowing patients to live their lives without feelings of fear or hopelessness.

The vascular surgery service at Mount Sinai has been responsible for many advancements in vascular surgery. Dr. Michael Marin, Chariman of the Department of Surgery and Chief of the Division of Vascular Surgery, has committed and dedicated himself to excellence by putting together a team of internationally known surgeons, mid-level practitioners, and ancillary staff. The Mount Sinai Center for Endovascular Surgery

"The Center" offers patients comprehensive care of peripheral vascular diseases, and is a part of the Department of Surgery at The Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. The Center's focus is to provide a range of operative treatments, including minimally invasive durable treatments for vascular diseases, such as:

  • aortic aneurysms;
  • peripheral arterial occlusions;
  • acute and chronic venous disease;
  • vascular trauma;
  • long-term vascular access for medical therapy or dialysis.

By focusing on minimally invasive treatments for these problems, The Center can improve clinical outcome and lower the cost of conventional surgical and therapeutic procedures, maintains a leadership role in research and development in this actively growing field.

The Endovascular Center was started in January 1997, led by Dr. Marin, who is among the leading vascular and endovascular surgeons in the world, having the extensive experience in the treatment of peripheral vascular disease and minimally invasive treatment of complex disorders, such as abdominal and thoracic aneurysm repair. Since the center began treating patients in January 1997, we have been successful in offering patients the most advanced care while markedly reducing the in-hospital length of stay for patients with aortic aneurysms. Over the past nine years, the Center has made significant advances in this field. The faculty have published their work extending the field of minimally invasive vascular surgery to virtually all areas of vascular disease. This talented team includes Dr. Victoria Teodorescu, Dr. Alfio Carroccio, and Dr. Sharif Ellozy.

The Center will continue to expand the reach of endovascular minimally invasive therapy to treat a broad range of problems affecting the vascular system as well as provide quality care to each and every patient.
